The Kershaw Bel Air feels like the moment Kershaw got its groove back. It’s a sleek, mid-sized EDC with MagnaCut steel , aluminum scales, and one of the smoothest crossbar lock actions I’ve ever felt from the brand. The detent is crisp, the lockup is vault tight, and it has that satisfying, confident snap every time you deploy it. The blade geometry is thin and precise, making it a great everyday cutter for anything from packaging to field chores. The aluminum handles give it a premium feel without adding unnecessary weight, and the coating holds up surprisingly well after real pocket time.

The absolute point of diminishing returns is the Kershaw Bel Air hands down. Hands down. This is the XL which I think is that that's the true peak.

One of the knife’s best returning features is its DuraLock, which is Kershaw’s take on a crossbar. In addition to being strong and reliable, the mechanism is easy to operate and ambidextrous. In fact, the entire knife is ambidextrous, considering its dual thumb stud deployment and reversible pocket clip. The Bel-Air measures 7.3 inches total, has a 3.1-inch blade and weighs 2.9 ounces. As a final note, this is a Factory Special Series knife, meaning it’s exclusive to Kershaw and it’s a limited run, so it won’t be around for long.

The Kershaw Bel Air is a USA-made pocket knife that earns its place among the best production knives we have tested : CPM MagnaCut blade steel, smooth-as-butter KVT ball bearing action, an ambidextrous DuraLock mechanism, and a 2.9-ounce aluminum frame that feels more premium than its weight suggests. This is one of those knives that just feels right the moment you pick it up, balanced equally well open or closed, and that first impression holds up through extended use.

Kershaw didn’t make the Bel Air line easier to understand in 2026. It made it more useful. The regular Bel Air already sits in that pocket between polished EDC and a knife you’d actually use, but the new Bel Air XL variants turn the decision into something sharper: what kind of work do you expect a slim USA-made folder to handle? That’s the whole story.

The best knife we tested is the Kershaw Bel Air . It is meticulously crafted, with a compact design that's easy to carry, yet it's built tough enough to tackle almost any task. With a widely appealing style, this smart knife is as comfortable to carry on a backpacking trip as it is around the office.

The Bel Air is a lightweight EDC knife with an “Axis” style lock that represents Kershaw’s answer to the popular Benchmade Bugout and Hogue Deka . It earns our Best Buy Award for representing the best value of materials, design, fit, and finish.

But for anybody looking for a great EDC, um something that's not going to necessarily break the bank, but also something that's going to last a long time, made in the USA by a brand everybody recognizes, um and has really, really great quality um per dollar, then I would highly recommend you guys checking out the Kershaw Bel Air.
