Summary: It's hard to make definitive judgments after one casting session (even a fairly lengthy one), but I'm impressed with how it casts. I haven't cast all or even most of the current mid-priced rods, but of the ones I have cast it's the only one I'm opting to keep. Of course, my stroke and preferences may be different than yours. But if you're looking for an 8 wt and the V2S is within your budRead T

This thing looks very familiar, but something I haven't seen in quite a while. So, we had the Greenwater series. So, this is kind of paying homage to that series, at least with the look. This is an entirely different rod than the Green Water was. Uh the Green Water had an incredible reputation. Was definitely more of a live bait rod, a little more moderate action than this new Pro Green. But it waWatch S

Frequently asked questions
It ranks #11 of 12 on our fishing rods tier list, in F tier. That placement draws on 64 cited sources across 41 outlets.
None of the 64 sources with a clear view is critical of it. No distinguishing features. Price not justified. High price relative to value.
Nobody we can recommend it to. The IMX-PRO sits in F tier, eleventh on our board. Reviewers credit its offshore durability and salt-water performance but find no distinguishing features and a price that is not justified. Buy the Abu Garcia Veritas PLX in S tier for a general rod, or the Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore Spinning Rod in C tier if you want a tough saltwater rod for casual use.
The Abu Garcia Veritas PLX. It is the board's only S tier rod and reviewers rate its construction, action and balance as fair value for the price, which is the exact point the IMX-PRO fails on. For inshore saltwater specifically, the Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore Spinning Rod in C tier is the higher-ranked saltwater option.
The findings conflict and the board nets them out. One source group credits the IMX-PRO with good value and positive community feedback. The larger weight of findings says the price is high relative to value and that the rod has no distinguishing features against the competition. Across six research runs that balance lands it in F tier.
Its offshore durability and performance in harsh salt water are the strongest findings in its favour, so it can do the job. The problem is cost. Reviewers say you pay a premium for a rod that does nothing its rivals do not. If offshore use is the goal, weigh that premium against the board's higher-ranked rods before buying.
Rinse the whole rod in fresh water after every trip, paying attention to the guides, the reel seat threads and the joint between sections. Dry it before it goes in a tube. Wipe a light film of reel oil on the reel seat threads once a season to stop them seizing. Check the guide inserts for cracks, since salt and grit wear them faster than freshwater use.
