Read P
The HP Series 5 Pro 514pn’s design and build quality is certainly a highlight. I’ve complained in the past that mid-range portable monitors, like the Dell Pro 14 Plus , don’t always do enough to stand out from budget peers. The HP 514pn is a different story. It’s attractive and light, yet functional.Read P
While the HP Series 5 Pro 514pn has great image quality, its IPS Black panel has a contrast ratio of just 1710:1. That’s not bad, but it can’t match OLED’s deep blacks, so the HP will look less immersive in dark and dynamic content.Read P

Not only is the 514pn one of the brightest portable displays we've tested, but its pixel-dense 16:10 panel has excellent contrast, and essentially full coverage of the three color spaces for which we test monitors (sRGB, Adobe RGB, and DCI-P3). A sturdy fold-out kickstand lets you tilt the panel to a wide range of angles.Read C
While “Neo:LED” is just an LG-branded version of its IPS Black panel with a mini-LED backlight — a low-power variation of the company’s QNED TV panels, which have been out for a while — the HP Series 5 Pro 514PN is the first of the new laptop screens I’ve seen that uses the technology.Read X
The HP Series 5 Pro 514pn Portable Monitor is an ultra-light, thin, portable display that's ideal for work travel but can be a solid addition to any home office. With a matte, IPS Black display panel rated to 400 nits, it's almost perfectly glare-proof.Read B
Take your dual screen setup virtually anywhere and stay productive while on the go with the Series 5 Pro 514pn 14" 1600p Portable Monitor from HP , whose feather-light frame makes it an ideal way to give your notebook an additional display.Read T
You’ll also be able to change other settings natively in Windows, like the resolution (the 514PN has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600) and refresh rate (the 514PN tops out at 75 Hz, which is slightly above the segment-usual 60 Hz).Read

Those clear advantages earn the 514pn a firm Editors' Choice award as an elite portable productivity monitor. The 514pn does lack touch-screen functionality, though; if you need that feature, go with the Lenovo M14t Gen2.Read S
Ultimately, the HP 514PN delivers a superior portable display experience, but its high price may not justify the cost for all users. The higher contrast and power efficiency could be worthwhile for those who spend long hours in front of a screen, but for casual users, cheaper alternatives may suffice.Watch C

The 514PN uses LG's IPS Black technology, which improves upon traditional IPS by increasing the contrast ratio from the typical 1,000:1 to 2,000:1. This results in deeper blacks and better color accuracy. In practice, this means dark scenes in movies or games appear with actual black levels rather than the grayish tint common to standard IPS panels.Read Y
Finally, I have another slight ding for the 514pn. The monitor comes with a thin protective cover that magnetically attaches to the panel's front, but I would have liked a full protective sleeve; when I took the monitor with me for a weekend away, I put it in a laptop sleeve to protect the aluminum from scratching.Read
