As an avid hiker, I’ve been the proud owner of the Helinox Chair One for over two years, and it’s become a staple in my pack for every hike. While some might argue that carrying a chair adds unnecessary weight, I can assure you that there’s nothing quite as soothing as reclining in your lightweight chair after a long day on the trail. It’s a game changer for both your body and soul.Read R
This is an excellent chair. And this is the first compact chair that I owned. The first thing you'll see is that I've got tennis balls in them here.Watch G
In short: The updated Helinox Chair One (re) didn’t reinvent the lightweight camp chair, but it did refine it. The new version makes strides in creating a more robust structure, while adding savvy recycled components that ensure this chair looks forward instead of backward. This is what I learned about the Chair One (re) in my half a year with it so far.Read E
It packs down for easy travel and has big comfort.Watch B
If you want more stability and comfort and can spare half a kilo, the Helinox Chair One is the better seat. On a tight budget, the Moon Lence clone does 80% of the job for a third of the price. And if you camp on soft ground a lot, the Chair Zero LT — same featherweight as the Zero but with a built-in anti-sink stabilizer; is the refined upgrade.Read A
This thing is based on one of my favorite chairs of all time, the one that I've used for the last like 5 years, like pretty much every camping trip that I've been on. But they made some significant changes to this and I believe lowered the price on it a little bit over what the old one that I had was. So, there's just nothing but a win-win here for anyone looking for a Helilinox chair.Watch P
Our premium lightweight pick is the Helinox Chair One (re). It has a lower published packed weight than Ozzi, a five-year warranty and independent hands-on evidence supporting its portability and improved sitting height. Ozzi may still be preferable if integrated setup is your main priority.Read T
So that's only 5 centimeters more than the Chair Zero, but it is a lot more comfortable for someone of my height to sit in. As with the Chair Zero, it's really easy to set up and pack up and again the instructions are on the bottom. So the next chair is the Chair One XL. So this is the heaviest of these four chairs. Comes in at 1.6 kilos.Watch F Facebook Article
Ultralight doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable. 🪑 The Helinox Chair One High-Back (re) perfectly blends ultralight comfort in a versatile seat you can take almost anywhere from the backyard to the backcountry. Kick back and read the review. Link in bio!Read T
So, the Chair One, in my opinion, is great to have. It's Since it's both compact and lightweight, you can throw it into the trunk of your car or the bed of your truck.Watch I Instagram Article
The Helinox Chair One has worked its way back into the conversation alongside a framed pack and whilst it won't be coming on every trip you have to acknowledge it definitely adds value when you can sit back, put your feet up and enjoy scenes like this.Read P
If you're wearing like a duty belt or other sort of clothing that wears holes in things, uh, this just adds that little bit more durability. Other things you'll see on them is they've all got good solid pockets, no mesh, so nothing to get caught up and rip on both sides of all the chairs in the range being the sunset chair and the tactical chair one.Watch P
For BWCA paddlers who want a reliable chair with a little more height, comfort, and durability (without sacrificing packability), the Chair One RE is a solid all-around pick.Read A

We appreciate this chair’s refined weight distribution and snug feel, though the lack of armrests and mediocre durability are compromises that come with this chair’s portability. Still, the Chair One (re) is a strong pick for campers, luxury-minded backpackers, and anyone trying to save space without completely forgoing the appeal of a comfy seat.Read E
But as you saw right when I said I had a flaw, I kind of sunk into the ground there. So, it's better when you have a little bit stiffer ground. So, here's the ground here.Watch B
The Chair One (re) improves on its predecessor in several ways, particularly in the comfort department. It still lacks nice-to-have features like armrests, but campers who prioritize a lightweight option that fits easily inside a daypack or a tote bag will love its portability.Read G
Although this design doesn't offer the comfort of padded material or armrests, we're confident its durability will make up for it in overall packability. Measuring 14 inches long and weighing only two pounds, the Chair One is the standard for lightweight, compact performance.Read L
The revamped, and ever-so-slightly larger, Chair One (re) isn’t the most comfortable camping chair you’ll ever sit in, but for such a stripped back design it’s mightily impressive.Read O
What we liked: comfortable, very light and packable What we didn’t like: very low to the ground, can sink into soft ground and become unstableRead C
For those with limited mobility or who need extra cushioning, the minimalist design and low seat height of the Chair One might not be ideal.Read O

All the components of the Chair One come in a slim rectangular zipper case that stows easily into a bag or the corners of a fully-loaded car. Once unpacked, the chair comes together with ease. The frame pieces are all connected via shock cord, which allows them to snap into place with almost no assistance.Read B
If you're on the fence between the Helinox Chair One versus the Chair Zero, this one's for you. First though, let's get the obvious question out of the way: why not just get one of these knockoffs? There's a lot of these on the market: same design, more or less, at almost a third of the price. And we're cheap, so we got one. UnfortuWatch O
I’ve tried a few different variations of the Helinox Chair One and each time it gets a little closer to convincing me it’s the right choice for car camping. Previous iterations had nailed the small packed size (a must when you’ve got to squeeze everything for a long trip into your SUV) and overall comfort.Read T
Chair One has been around for years um, it's recently had an update, which is the Chair One (re), which is the re-engineered. It's actually got, it's really comfortable. So, it's got two rings that run around, so two tension rings um, so it does mean that it doesn't sort of fold in on itself as much.Watch T

Up to this point not a lot of Helinox's chairs have had cup holders or pockets in them so it's good to see in the new chair one. Another bonus with the redesign frame is Helinox's form manufacturing which basically means in the poles it's using repurposed aluminium so it's good for the environment.Watch
Frequently asked questions
It ranks #1 (S tier) on our consolidated camping chairs board, drawn from 35 cited sources across 31 outlets.
Higher price than some heavier chairs.
Anyone who carries their chair, from backpackers to festival goers to car campers who walk in from the car park. It is the only S tier product on our board because it pairs a 1.5 lb weight with a sturdy aluminum frame and a comfortable seat and backrest. If you never carry the chair and want maximum support, the Yeti Trailhead Camp Chair is the better pick. If the price is the obstacle, the Kijaro Dual Lock Camping Chair is the board's best budget pick.
Many seasons. Reviewers single out its durable construction that holds up over repeated use, and no failure was recorded in any of the research runs. The only drawback on record is that it costs more than some heavier chairs.
About 1.5 lb, which is the lightest weight recorded on our board alongside the Vango Dune Chair. That low weight comes from a shock-corded aluminum pole frame that packs into a small sleeve, which is why reviewers rate it as easy to pack.
Buy the Helinox Chair One. Reviewers found the higher back on the Helinox Chair Zero High-Back offers no significant advantage over the One while adding weight and cost, and some flagged its frame as flimsy. The Helinox Chair Zero High-Back sits in F tier on our board and the Helinox Chair One is in S tier.
Dry it fully before it goes back in the sleeve, and wipe the fabric with mild soap and water when it gets dirty. Rinse the frame after salt or sand exposure and make sure each pole seats fully into the hub before you sit down. The shock cord inside the poles can be replaced if it loses tension after years of use.
