Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter is our top pick for clumping cat litter. The most important feature of any type of cat litter is its ability to deal with moisture. Clumping cat litter reacts to the moisture of your cat’s waste and begins to make a shell around it. When it hardens into a clump, you can scoop it out of the litter box. Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter is hypoallergenic so that it won’t hurt sensitive cats. It also reacts to moisture quickly so that it can catch waste and seal it away before it spreads.

Dr. Elsey's Ultra Unscented is our best overall clumping litter choice because it combines a familiar fine texture with unscented clumping and a documented low-dust position. Its bentonite clumping clay material and unscented hard-clumping granules format give it a specific job in this clumping and scoopability comparison rather than a claim to be best for every cat.

I've been using Dr Elsey's Ultra Unscented cat litter, and it's been decent with the hard clumps that are near the top of the litter, but it does tend to stick to the sides and bottom of the litter box, and those clumps are usually softer or even soggy and tend to crumble easily, but I can get past all of that.

It is worth noting that this litter is one of those reportedly included in the formula change recently, although we are unsure as to the extent of the change.

Greenpetcare Article

Overall, it's an excellent premium clay litter but may not be ideal for consumers seeking environmentally friendly options.
