It doesn't beat it outright, but apart from sequential file copying with quite large files, there are not many scenarios between the two where the AS1202T falls behind. It might not be as quiet during normal use, nor quite as power efficient, but we're looking at about a single watt difference here, which isn't going to cost much more, even if it's left on 24/7. During heavy use, the AS1202T beats the DH2300, even at full fan speed, but considering that both devices are entry level NAS appliances, it's unlikely either will be worked that hard.Read T
As with the AS5404T, the AS1202T can be located on the network using the Asustor Control Center or ACC, which makes it easy to get started with setup. The first few steps are identical to the AS5404T setup process, but this time we didn't run into any issues updating ADM, as we did on the AS5404T. This might've been because the AS1202T shipped with version 5.0.1, whereas the AS5404T shipped with 4.3.0. After the update to 5.1.2, the system had to be rebooted before the installation could continue.Read T
The Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T is a very compact NAS and as this is a budget model, it doesn't have hot-swappable drive bays, which is a common deficiency with budget NAS units, yet Ugreen managed to fit the NASync DH2300 with hot-swap bays. In reality this isn't a big deal in a two bay NAS though, and opening the AS1202T is a matter of removing a pair of screws and sliding half of the chassis backwards. The bottom of the housing has markings to show the locked and unlocked position.Read T
As the Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T is limited to two drive bays, we tested it in RAID 0 and 1, as well as with a pair of 2.5-inch SSDs in RAID 0 to see if there was any extra performance to be gained by moving from mechanical drives to solid state drives. Initial performance looks very decent, except for the random 4K performance, but considering the comparatively basic hardware, we're not going to complain too much.Read T
This time around we're taking a look at Asustor's latest entry level NAS, the Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T, and we will be comparing it to the Ugreen NASync DH2300 , as it's the only recent, similar device we've tested.Read T
Overall, the AS1202T was using about 1 W more than the DH2300, which is a fairly small amount of extra power, and it's not something we'd factor in as a disadvantage for the AS1202T.Read
