The 8600G is AMD's answer to the question: what if I want AM5 but I'm not ready to buy a GPU yet? It combines Zen 4 cores with a proper Radeon 760M integrated GPU, which is a genuine step up from the basic iGPUs found in most desktop chips. Six cores, twelve threads, 5.0GHz boost, and the Wraith Stealth cooler in the box.Read E

The integrated Radeon 760M (RDNA 3) handles less demanding titles like CS2 and Fortnite at 60-100fps on low to medium settings. More demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 run at around 30-38fps at low settings, which is playable but not ideal. Using AMD FSR in supported games significantly improves frame rates.Read Z

AMD's desktop APUs are turning out to be very promising and can easily trump their previous 5000G series as they deliver a great performance while maintaining a reasonable price tag. This lineup consists of the Ryzen 5 8500G, 8600G, and the 8700G. Though the 8600G and 8500G come with a far more reasonable price tag, it can get a bit complicated to choose.Watch T
In gaming, the Ryzen 5 8600G should have the upper hand. Perhaps the biggest upgrade on the Ryzen AI 5 435G is its beefed-up NPU, which delivers more than 3X the AI performance of the Ryzen 5 8600G.Read E

If there is absolutely no gaming, I'd go for the 9600x. The 8600g has "better" gaming performance but really none of them are even decent. I have a machine with an 890m which is just barely approaching "ok" for very lite games and is about 3x as fast as the iGPU in the 8600g.Read G
Although we already know they're not strictly "worth it" as cheap gaming parts if the only goal is the cheapest possible combination of a CPU and GPU, they still have valid use cases. If AMD ever adds VRAM to APUs in a big way, it's possible they compete with cheap graphics cards in the future. But we'll see.Watch V

However, I wouldn't recommend building a new PC with this processor and dedicated graphics card because it already has integrated graphics. If you're thinking about pairing it with a GPU, building a new PC with this processor and a GPU doesn't really make sense, but if you already have a PC with this processor and no dedicated GPU, then these recommendations are worth considering.Watch E
Just keep in mind, for more demanding workloads like heavy 3D rendering or complex motion graphics, a dedicated GPU would make a big difference.Watch G
While it won't replace a dedicated high-end graphics card, it's powerful enough to handle many games at 1080p resolution with reasonable settings. This makes it an excellent option for budget conscious gamers or those looking to build a compact all-in-one system. The 8,600G utilizes the AM5 socket, AMD's newest platform.Watch

What's changed is the silicon. The new chips integrate more capable RDNA3 graphics, but CPU-wise, they actually take a step back: less L3 cache and downgraded PCI Express support, both in version and lane count. In other words, the Ryzen 8000 series is technically newer, yet on the CPU side, it's a downgrade from the 7000 series – a naming choice that most would agree is misleading at best.Read C

The Ryzen 5 8600G has six Zen 4 CPU cores and the RDNA 3 GPU engine with eight CUs. The Ryzen 5 8600G drops into the AM5 platform, with value-focused B650 and A620 motherboards being the obvious best combination. These systems offer a new level of connectivity for AMD's APU processors, which were previously on the aging AM4 platform but require DDR5 memory.Read R
