## Frequently asked questions

### Who is the Whisker Feeder-Robot for?

Owners who want an app-controlled feeder and want it to still work in five years. It is the best-tested feeder on our board, the consensus pick of The Spruce Pets, Business Insider and PEOPLE, and Whisker is the one company in the category with a proven record of supporting connected hardware for years. If you do not need an app at all, the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed ranks above it because there is nothing in it to be sunset.

### Will the Whisker Feeder-Robot app keep working?

On the evidence, yes. The main risk with any connected feeder is that the maker stops supporting the app, and Whisker has a track record of keeping app-connected hardware supported for years, which no other connected brand on the board can show. Support is US based, so a problem gets a person rather than a ticket queue.

### How small a portion can the Whisker Feeder-Robot dispense?

Portions go down to one eighth of a cup, and it can dispense up to eight meals a day. That makes it suitable for small cats and for weight-control plans that split a day's food into many small meals. There is also a gravity-feed option if you want the bowl kept topped up instead of portioned.

### Can you try the Whisker Feeder-Robot and return it?

Yes. Whisker offers a 90-day in-home trial, which is long enough to find out whether your pet accepts the feeder and whether the portion sizes suit it. That trial is unusual in the category, where most feeders come with a standard retail return window only.

### Does the Whisker Feeder-Robot work for multiple cats?

It feeds several cats that share food, but it does not stop one cat from eating another's share. It is a scheduler, not a gated feeder. If one cat steals food or is on a prescription diet, the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect opens only for the cat whose microchip it recognises and is the board's pick for that job.

## What this tier means

- A: Excellent. Strongly recommended, beaten only by the very best.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
