## Verdict

The most-recommended drive that this lens would least recommend: it coasts on a glowing review consensus while under-delivering its spec in owner testing, and the line's failure history is exactly what an ownership lens punishes. Buy the Crucial X9 Pro instead.

## For

- Top performer in TechGearLab's testing
- Built tough with rugged construction
- Truly high-end high-performance SSD with the speeds, durability, and portability to back it
- Consistent owner praise for speed, reliability over extended use, and physical build quality
- Rugged and proven

## Against

- Real-world read/write speeds roughly 20 percent below the advertised specification, per owner testing
- Charges a price premium for the ruggedness
- Line's reputation dented by firmware-related data-loss scares and steady failure complaints
- Per-gigabyte premium over the Crucial and Adata value picks

## Flagged as one to avoid

This product entered 1 of 2 runs as one buyers cross-shop but should not buy, rather than as a pick. It is published here rather than dropped.

## What this tier means

- C: Fair. Acceptable in the right situation, outclassed at its price.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
