## Frequently asked questions

### Who is the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed for?

Anyone who wants a feeder that feeds on schedule for years and asks nothing else of them. It is the top pick on our automatic pet feeders board because it has no app or cloud account to be sunset, spare parts are sold, and the support line is the best in the category. Buy something else if you want remote control from your phone, where the Whisker Feeder-Robot is the board's best connected choice, or if one pet steals another's food, where the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect gates access by microchip.

### How long does the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed last?

Five years or more is routine, which is the longest service record on our board. Two things drive that: there is no software to stop working, and PetSafe actually sells spare parts, so a worn bowl or hopper piece is replaced rather than the whole feeder. Connected feeders carry the extra risk of the app outliving its support, which this feeder avoids entirely.

### Does the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed need Wi-Fi or an app?

No. You program the schedule on the unit itself and it runs without a phone, an account or an internet connection. That is the point of it, and it is why the board ranks it above every smart feeder despite the missing features. If you do want app control with a company behind it, the PetSafe Smart Feed Automatic Feeder (2nd Generation) is the connected PetSafe model with the best documented durability past two years.

### Does the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed jam?

Jamming is not a reported problem. It moves kibble with a conveyor rather than an auger screw, and the board's research found it handles varied kibble shapes without the jam-prone behaviour of auger designs. Keep the hopper dry and clean so kibble oil does not build up on the conveyor, and it should keep feeding cleanly.

### How do you clean the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed?

The bowl and the hopper parts are dishwasher safe, so take them off and run them through the dishwasher every week or two. Wipe the inside of the feeder body with a damp cloth and keep water away from the motor and the control panel. Let every part dry fully before you reassemble it so kibble does not stick in the feed path.

## What this tier means

- S: Exceptional. Finishes top run after run; capped at 3 slots per category.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
