Someone who wants a compact app-controlled feeder and is home often enough to notice a missed meal. The board's research carries the worst set of owner reports on the board: recurring status unknown errors that mean the pet was not fed, discovered only when the owner gets home. If you want a connected feeder you can trust while away, the Whisker Feeder-Robot is the board's pick, and the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed is the pick if you do not need an app at all. ### What goes wrong with the Petlibro Air Wi-Fi Automatic Feeder? It skips meals without telling you. Owners report the app showing status unknown while the feeder has not dispensed, and because the failure is silent the pet goes hungry until someone checks. The Petlibro subreddit hosts a thread titled Automatic pet feeder SUCKS do not buy, and owners describe Petlibro as the worst brand on the market at the highest prices. That failure mode is the one test a feeder must pass. ### What does the status unknown error on the Petlibro Air Wi-Fi Automatic Feeder mean? It means the app has lost contact with the feeder and cannot confirm whether the scheduled meal dropped. In owner reports on our board, it usually meant the meal did not drop. Treat it as a missed feeding, not a display glitch, and have someone check the bowl. A feeder that reports a failure loudly would be the safer design, and this one does not. ### Does the Petlibro Air Wi-Fi Automatic Feeder work without Wi-Fi? Scheduling and status reporting run through the app, which is the feeder's only listed strength on our board, so losing Wi-Fi takes away the control you bought it for. A feeder with on-unit programming, such as the PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed, keeps feeding with no network at all, which is why the board ranks offline designs higher for anyone who is away for long stretches. ### Which Petlibro feeder is better than the Petlibro Air Wi-Fi Automatic Feeder? The Petlibro Granary Camera Automatic Pet Feeder. It has decent anti-jam mechanics, a better-than-most app, a Wirecutter mention for calorie control, and a camera that verifies a meal actually dispensed, which directly answers the silent-skip problem. It still carries Petlibro's uneven reliability and support reputation, so if you can step outside the brand, the Whisker Feeder-Robot is the better connected feeder overall. ## What this tier means - B: Good. A solid choice with real caveats worth knowing. ## How to read this - Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand. - LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories. - Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review. - A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above. ## Image https://stspimgdevmfyk46r5vwkay.blob.core.windows.net/images/products/petlibro-air-wi-fi-automatic-feeder.webp Product photographs are not covered: they belong to their respective owners and are reproduced to illustrate the product being reviewed.
