## Verdict

The most clinically backed food on the board, with decades of feeding trials behind a stable formula. Slightly less palatable to some dogs, which is the only thing keeping it from first.

## For

- top tier of vet-recommended foods
- decades of clinical feeding trials
- in-house veterinary nutrition team
- Vet-backed formulation
- Sits in the middle of the price range rather than the top

## Against

- Less ingredient glamour than trendier brands
- Dog Food Advisor rates the adult dry range a mediocre 3 stars on average across 48 recipes
- Customer reviewers call the brand overpriced
- Digestive upset reported in customer reviews
- The flagship Adult Chicken and Barley recipe scores a middling 7.8 out of 10, not exceptional

## Flagged as one to avoid

This product entered 1 of 12 runs as one buyers cross-shop but should not buy, rather than as a pick. It is published here rather than dropped.

## What this tier means

- S: Exceptional. Finishes top run after run; capped at 3 slots per category.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
