## Verdict

The old Google pick that buyers still reach for out of habit. Viewlenses still pitches it as “best overall” for Google users, and Whatnotsell lists it as Best Google Assistant Speaker, but Google’s own current answer is the new Google Home Speaker, which CNET reports delivers 2.5× the bass of the Nest Mini line and which PCMag now slots as the Gemini-ecosystem pick. Nest Audio is coasting on a reputation earned years ago. Buy the [PICK] Google Home Speaker (2026) instead.

## For

- Still listed as the best Google Assistant speaker by WhatNotSell
- SoundGuys' "Best smart Bluetooth speaker" pick
- Proven, reliable unit that is still recommended

## Against

- Outdated model
- Aging model compared with newer offerings
- Outclassed by the newer Google Home Speaker
- Delivers markedly less bass than Google's current speaker
- Misses the new Gemini-first ecosystem direction

## Flagged as one to avoid

This product entered 5 of 14 runs as one buyers cross-shop but should not buy, rather than as a pick. It is published here rather than dropped.

## What this tier means

- F: Avoid. The evidence points you elsewhere.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
