## Verdict

The most aggressively marketed antenna in the category, built on a physically impossible range claim and the fastest-failing amplified-outdoor configuration. Buy the Antennas Direct 8-Element Bowtie for any real outdoor installation.

## For

- Popular Science's best long-range outdoor pick
- The only long-range outdoor antenna a mainstream testing outlet currently endorses
- The budget long-range option the field points to
- Popular Science awarded a Five Star model its best long-range outdoor slot in a small field

## Against

- Range claim is physically impossible for over-the-air broadcast reception
- Cheap amplifier paired with outdoor exposure, the fastest-failing configuration in antenna ownership
- One of the most heavily pushed listings in the entire category
- Claims an impossible 200-mile range
- Built-in amplifier tends to add noise more than channels

## Flagged as one to avoid

This product entered 11 of 12 runs as one buyers cross-shop but should not buy, rather than as a pick. It is published here rather than dropped.

## What this tier means

- F: Avoid. The evidence points you elsewhere.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
