## Frequently asked questions

### Who is the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker for?

Coffee enthusiasts who want brew profiles and a machine that improves after purchase. It sits in A tier at rank 4 on our coffee makers board with excellent brew quality out of the box, SCA certification, metal-heavy construction and responsive customer service. The only thing keeping it out of the top three is that Fellow is a young company, so multi-decade durability is unproven. If you want the proven long-term buy, choose the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select. If you want the most manual brewing control at a lower tier, the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal has it.

### How long does the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker last?

Nobody knows yet, and that is the honest answer our research gives. The construction is metal-heavy and customer service is responsive, both good signs, but Fellow has not been around long enough to show 10-year or 20-year survival the way the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select has. The Ratio Six (Series 2) offers a 5-year warranty and almost no electronics if longevity is your first concern.

### Does the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker get firmware updates?

Yes, and they matter. Our research found the machine meaningfully improved by steady firmware updates, which have added a cold brew mode and new brew profiles since launch. That is unusual for a coffee maker and is part of why it ranks in A tier. The trade-off is that the brewer depends on software, which simpler machines like the Ratio Six (Series 2) do not.

### Is the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker SCA certified?

Yes. SCA certification means the Specialty Coffee Association has tested the brewer for water temperature, brew time and even extraction. On our board the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is SCA certified and the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal is SCA compliant. Certification is a floor for brew quality rather than a ranking, so it does not by itself separate the two.

### Can the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker make cold brew?

Yes. A cold brew mode was added through a firmware update, one of the improvements our research credits the machine with since launch. Cold brew steeps ground coffee in cold or room-temperature water for hours rather than minutes, so expect a much longer cycle than a hot pot. Keep the firmware current to get the mode and any later profiles.

## What this tier means

- A: Excellent. Strongly recommended, beaten only by the very best.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
