## Frequently asked questions

### Who is the Dali Kupid for?

Someone who wants a very small passive speaker with a lively, entertaining sound at a low cost, and who will not mind replacing it sooner than a heavier speaker. It ranks fourth on our board in A tier on value and personality, and it tops What Hi-Fi?'s current best budget hi-fi speakers guide. If you want a budget speaker that lasts, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is the safer buy on our board, with robust construction and a sound that stays stable for years.

### How long does the Dali Kupid last?

Not as long as the other A tier speakers. Our research records a high failure rate in long-term use and limited warranty coverage, which is why the verdict says its longevity is reduced despite the good sound. Buy it for the sound now, not as a decade-long investment. The Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is the board's durable budget alternative.

### What goes wrong with the Dali Kupid?

Failures in long-term use are the main complaint, and the limited warranty means those failures can land on the owner. The other limit is physical: the small cabinet caps ultimate scale and bass weight, so it cannot fill a large room. Neither problem shows up in a short demo, which is where the Kupid shines.

### Does the Dali Kupid have enough bass?

Enough for a desk or a small room, not for a large one. Our research notes that the small cabinet limits ultimate scale and bass weight, even though the sound is lively and entertaining. If you want more bass from a compact passive speaker, the KEF R3 Meta is the board's pick, and the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 has excellent bass response for its cost.

### Does the Dali Kupid need an amplifier?

Yes. The Dali Kupid is a passive speaker and needs a stereo or integrated amplifier with speaker outputs. Its small size makes it a natural fit for a compact amplifier on a desk or shelf. It has no built-in amplification or wireless input.

## What this tier means

- A: Excellent. Strongly recommended, beaten only by the very best.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
