## Verdict

A reliable, low-voltage plug-and-play kit that testers found performs exactly like Crucial's plain DDR5-5600, held back mainly by its relatively loose CL46 timings next to performance-themed rivals.

## About this product

This page covers the Crucial Pro CP2K16G56C46U5, a 32GB DDR5 desktop memory kit made of two 16GB sticks with a low-profile matte black heat spreader and no RGB lighting. It is rated for 5600 MT/s at CL46 (46-45-45) and runs at just 1.1V.

Every module carries both an Intel XMP 3.0 and an AMD EXPO profile, and Crucial lists 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 desktops as examples of the DDR5 systems it fits. It suits a mainstream build where plug-and-play reliability matters more than tight timings. It does not work in DDR4 motherboards.

PCinq and APH Networks both tested this exact kit and found it essentially the same as Crucial's plain CT2K16G56C46U5 with a heat spreader added. Micron announced in December 2025 that it is leaving the Crucial consumer business, with shipments to retailers ending in February 2026, though it says warranty service and support continue.

## For

- Carries both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles on the same module
- Low-profile heat spreader, measured at 32.0mm tall by PCinq, should clear any CPU heatsink
- Runs its rated speed at only 1.1V
- Some headroom in testing: APH Networks reached DDR5-6000 at 1.35V without relaxing timings, and PCinq reached DDR5-6400
- Limited lifetime warranty (ten years in Germany and France)

## Against

- Relatively high CAS latency: CL46 timings are loose next to performance-themed kits
- Crucial says running it beyond its rated speed, timings or voltage voids the warranty
- Micron has exited the Crucial consumer business and stopped shipping to retailers in February 2026, so remaining stock may be hard to find

## Flagged as one to avoid

This product entered 1 of 4 runs as one buyers cross-shop but should not buy, rather than as a pick. It is published here rather than dropped.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the Crucial Pro DDR5-5600 work on both AMD and Intel?

Yes. Each module carries an Intel XMP 3.0 and an AMD EXPO profile, and Crucial names 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors as examples of compatible systems. It needs a DDR5 motherboard and will not fit a DDR4 board.

### Do I need to change any BIOS settings?

To be sure of its rated speed, yes. Crucial says its DDR5 desktop modules reach their rated speeds with Intel XMP 3.0 or AMD EXPO turned on in the UEFI or BIOS settings, so enable whichever profile your board offers after installing the kit.

### Will it fit under a large air cooler?

Almost certainly. Crucial describes the heat spreader as low profile, PCinq measured the modules at 32.0mm tall, and APH Networks says the heat spreader adds so little height that it should be compatible with any CPU heatsink.

### Can I overclock it?

A little, at your own risk. APH Networks reached DDR5-6000 at 1.35V without relaxing timings, and PCinq reached DDR5-6400 with 42-45-45-90 timings. Crucial warns that running beyond the advertised speed, timings or voltage may damage components and will void the warranty.

### Is the warranty still honoured now that Micron has left the consumer market?

Micron says it will provide continued warranty service and support for Crucial products after exiting the Crucial consumer business. Crucial's own terms give a limited lifetime warranty, or ten years from purchase in Germany and France.

## What this tier means

- C: Fair. Acceptable in the right situation, outclassed at its price.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
