## Frequently asked questions

### Who is the Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer (GS59X) for?

Anyone who wants a handheld steamer that removes creases quickly and does not need a second tool. It is the only S tier product on our clothes steamers board, with consistent praise for powerful steam, fast heat-up and robust build quality, and no recorded cons. If you want a unit that also presses a crisp crease, the Russell Hobbs Steam Genie is the A tier 2-in-1. If packability matters more than steam power, the CHI Portable Handheld Steamer is the compact travel pick.

### How long does the Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer (GS59X) last?

The board lists robust build quality and a steady, high-temperature steam flow among its strengths, and no reviewer reported failures or leaks. That is the best reliability record on our clothes steamers board. As with any steamer, lifespan depends on descaling: run a vinegar and water cycle every month or two if you use tap water.

### Is the Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer (GS59X) the same as the non-Turbo Conair?

No. The Conair ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer without Turbo branding is a separate listing on our board and sits in F tier, because reviewers are noticeably less enthusiastic about it than about the Turbo model. Check the box for the GS59X model number and the word Turbo before you buy.

### What water should you use in the Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer (GS59X)?

Distilled or demineralised water is the safe choice for any handheld steamer. Tap water leaves limescale in the heating chamber, which reduces steam output over time and eventually spits white flakes onto dark clothes. If you must use tap water, descale the unit regularly.

### Can you take the Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Handheld Fabric Steamer (GS59X) travelling?

It is a handheld, so it fits in a suitcase, but it is built for steam power first rather than for packing size. Check the voltage on the label before taking it abroad, since most handheld steamers are single voltage and need a converter, not just a plug adapter. For a unit designed around travel, our board points to the CHI Portable Handheld Steamer.

## What this tier means

- S: Exceptional. Finishes top run after run; capped at 3 slots per category.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
