## Verdict

A solid 6000 MT/s CL30 kit that runs well at its EXPO settings and leaves real headroom for overclockers, though KitGuru calls it fairly generic and found it hard to buy.

## About this product

This page covers ADATA's XPG Lancer RGB AX5U6000C3016G-DCLARBK, a 32GB DDR5 desktop memory kit made of two 16GB sticks with black heat spreaders and RGB lighting. XPG rates it at 6000MT/s with CL 30-40-40 timings at 1.35V, which it reaches once you enable its XMP or EXPO profile in the BIOS.

It supports both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO, so it suits an AMD Ryzen or an Intel DDR5 build. The modules measure 43.56mm tall. The same kit also comes in white as AX5U6000C3016G-DCLARWH.

KitGuru tested a 32GB Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D without naming its colour, and Hungry Geeks tested the white AX5U6000C3016G-DCLARWH on a Ryzen 9 7950X. Earlier reviews of the Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 cover a different CL40 kit, AX5U6000C4016G-DCLARBK, so their results do not describe this one.

## For

- Supports both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO
- Decent performance at its EXPO settings in KitGuru's test
- KitGuru ran it at DDR5-6800 and DDR5-7200 with rock solid reliability
- No crashes or instability at stock settings in Hungry Geeks' test of the white version
- Limited lifetime warranty

## Against

- Runs at the DDR5-4800 default until you enable EXPO or XMP, which KitGuru says leaves a load of performance on the table
- KitGuru found it fairly generic and struggled to find it on sale in Europe
- Overclocking is not guaranteed: Hungry Geeks met occasional crashes when raising the speed
- The Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 name also covers an older CL40 kit, so check the part number

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the XPG Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 work on both AMD and Intel?

Yes. XPG lists Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO support, and offers EXPO on its DDR5 kits rated at 6400MT/s or less, which includes this one. KitGuru and Hungry Geeks both ran CL30 Lancer RGB kits on AMD Ryzen systems.

### Do I need to change any BIOS settings?

Yes. XPG says you must enable XMP or EXPO in the BIOS, with a compatible motherboard and CPU, to reach the rated speed. KitGuru found that at the DDR5-4800 default you leave a load of performance on the table, which you gain for free by enabling EXPO.

### How tall are the modules?

XPG lists the Lancer RGB DDR5 at 133.35 x 43.56 x 8mm, so each stick stands 43.56mm tall. If a large air cooler overhangs your memory slots, compare that figure with the memory clearance its maker lists.

### Can it run faster than 6000 MT/s?

Often, but not always. KitGuru ran its kit at DDR5-6800 or DDR5-7200 with rock solid reliability and felt DDR5-7600 was within reach. Hungry Geeks met occasional crashes when it raised the speed on its white kit and put that down to an unlucky sample.

### Is this the same kit as the older Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 CL40?

No. That kit, AX5U6000C4016G-DCLARBK, runs 6000 MT/s at 40-40-40-76, and Tom's Hardware found Samsung chips inside. This kit is rated at CL 30-40-40, and KitGuru found SK Hynix chips on its CL30 sample. Reviews of the CL40 kit do not describe this one.

## What this tier means

- B: Good. A solid choice with real caveats worth knowing.

## How to read this

- Each category is researched in four independent runs, one per lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, community pulse). Every run ranks a board of candidates that deliberately includes products buyers cross-shop but should avoid. Placements score on a ranked ladder (LP), and tiers are derived from LP, so no tier is ever assigned by hand.
- LP is this product's points on its own category ladder. It is comparable within a category and not across categories.
- Link status reports what our pre-publication link check found when it fetched the cited URL. It says nothing about the quality of the review.
- A citation with no usable link is listed rather than dropped, and is excluded from the counted total above.
